Posted May 7th, 2012 by Rachel

This week we’re at The Darby! And in addition to the old standbys I wrote, we’re debuting a whole bunch of NEW material you’re already familiar with but have never seen us perform! So, for those of you who enjoy the Rachel Brown treatment we give to the occasional cover song, you’re in for a rare treat! Come for dinner or enjoy a drink at the bar and we’ll turn it into a swanky singalong.

2) Did I adopt a fake accent following my world (national) arena (college) tour?
3) Did my entire band kill each other due to sickness of traveling together so long and you are attending a show being performed by all of our ghosts?
4) Are there clowns at this party?

I’m on Perez!! This is bananas! I love bananas.

Posted November 9th, 2011 by Rachel

Perez Hilton chose me as the winner of his “Can YOU Sing???” cover competition for “Without You” by David Guetta ft. Usher and I think that’s just nuts, so thank you very much, Perez! Click the image above to hear my cover! He also had some incredibly nice things to say about me, which I’ll post below as I continue to blush:

“Sometimes less really is more!

Congratulations to Rachel Brown, our very talented winner, who proves that sometimes all you need is a guitar, a beautiful voice and an effective arrangement.

All one take! No pre-recorded vocals! No autotune! No distractions! Just simplicity, rawness and a haunting sweetness!

Sooo lovely! You MUST check out Rachel‘s cover (above)! We can’t stop listening to it!”

Happy Two-Days-After-Halloween!

Hello, you! I’m alive and well in case my website absence led you to believe otherwise. Been having a blast playing this college tour with the band and looking forward to more shows later this month. In the meantime, here’s a little cover tune I did the other day. xo

I hope this finds you well and safe this weekend. Today’s show at University of Mary Washington had to be rescheduled due to pesky Irene, but I hope to see everyone at UMW soon! Meanwhile, I’m avoiding the ridiculousness going on at the grocery stores (NYmag.com put it best: “Apparently, nobody in New York has a two-day supply of food in their apartments.”) by trying to come up with recipes for what remains in my fridge. If anyone’s got any ideas for what I can do with half a banana, a tub of hummus, and a bag of spinach, by all means, let me know.
